Brent is committed to creating a more cooperative culture. He works helping small groups with meeting facilitation and communication. He is excited to be collaborating with his wife, Liz, and two old friends, Michael and Cathy, to create a farm which focuses on teaching and sharing wonderful food. Parenting his ten year old daughter, Esther, is his biggest joy.

Liz Schroeder has been involved in food production on a large and small scale since being introduced to permaculture design at the age of 19. It is her experience as a practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the work of William Albrecht (an agronomy hero) that has had the most profound impact on her food growing practices. She believes deeply that food should be our first medicine.

Michael Smith has been growing food on a homestead level for 24 years, but he only made the transition into farming food for others around 2012. He has worked in restoration forestry and agroforestry and loves trees of all kinds. He is an avid grafter who has propagated many of the trees in our orchard. Cathy has been working on organic farms in Capay Valley since 2002. Her background is in biology, specifically entomology. Spreadwing Farm is named after a type of damselfly. Her main interests other than growing fruits and veggies are parenting, nutrition, goat milking, making cheese, fermenting veggies, and Holistic Farm Management. She is Michael Smith’s partner and they care for two children together.
